I've been a part of the Future Shop Community Forums for some time now and am definitely the one all my friends come to me when they are looking for tech related help. While I have my own personal preferences for things, I try to remain objective when providing recommendations. As a recent PhD grad, I strongly believe that objectivity is an important trait, and while I might not care for something myself, I will still do my best to ensure that others are able to make a decision for themselves based on the facts, rather than just my opinion.
