Here's my humble set-up, computer, TV and gaming place 
I have a 5.1 surround system that I can use, but I will most likely be using headphones anyway 
My TV is a 26" Insignia... It's basic, I got it for under $400 about a year ago, it does 720p and I can use it as another monitor for my computer, it sure gets the job done
Edit: TV on discovery, computer on mIRC, as usual
