I love when hardcore collectors think companies should make decisions around them when they only represent a small percentage of the market
This product is aimed at collectors, so yes they should take their comments into account.
At any rate this argument is going in circles. The only effective means by which to voice our concern is to simply not buy the knock-offs and continue to purchase SBs. People in Ian's position can look at the numbers and make their case to the studios that much more effectively.

Honestly, I'm going to give it a go! Sure, they may not be exactly like SteelBooks, but if Warner is going to be pumping them out for mor than these two releases, then I'm going to have three collections going ( SteelBook, DigiBook, Iron Case ).
The bottom ( and possibly the top ), of the spine when closed seem to form inwards, instead of the SteelBooks which run flat with the spine.

Mr Disco...very good observation. Warner is reading and aware of the thread, it is what it is for Harry and Terminator, I personally think the quality stands up based on what I saw, but.....you will all vote with your wallets, which I welcome.
cheers

First time poster, long time purchaser. I'm not too sure what I think about these cases. I haven't been collecting STEELBOOKS for very long, just under a year, but so far I am hooked! I am usually up at 9:30am to head to Futureshop to make sure I can get Mint/Dent Free Steelbooks of all these great releases! Most of my Steelbooks have been imported from other countries, but it's nice to see that Futureshop has joined in so us Canadian collectors can go to the store, rather then have them shipped and risk getting a damaged copy (or having it "lost" in the mail).
Now I haven't heard much about these "Ironcases" other than the fact it looks almost Identical to a true Steelbook, minus a couple details (the STEELBOOK logo inside for one) but I think it's safe to say that I will be going to other countries (paying a premium of course) so I can, in fact, get the product I want. Terminator: Salvation is infact a Steelbook in some countries (France being an FNAC Exclusive) as well as Harry Potter has also been confirmed a Steelbook (Netherlands and possibly Germany?)
I suppose it is easier for me to go down the road to Futureshop, purchase these 2 new releases, and be happy watching them. But in my case, when I go to open the case, they won't be a TRUE Steelbook. Therefore I'm more willing to pay double (even triple in some cases) to have these International releases shipped to me instead, rather than go to the store and purchase a 'Fake'.

I am. While I've never had an MetalPak/Iron Case before, I think I might as well get it. Will I start importing MetalPaks from various other places? No, but I will collect all of the FutureShop / Canadian MetalPaks.
And to tell you the truth, I'm kinda happy that Harry Potter is not a SteelBook... It would look funny having 5 Harry Potter Amarys and 1 SteelBook. My James Bond's stick out like a sore thumb.. ![]()
Edit: I forgot to mention. I still have my pre-order, but I'm picking up an additional one incase that one comes dented ( i've heard that these are more prone to denting than SteelBooks )
