Three easy ways to personaliz e your profile
I recently realized that I never filled out my About Me section on this community, which is sort of a crime. I've since remedied that, but it got me thinking - if I missed filling it out, I'm sure plenty of others did as well. Whether you spend a lot of time on the Community, or have just joined us, it's always cool to see what others are interested in (technology-related and non-technology related), so I thought I'd put together a little guide for personalizing your profile:
Customize your profile picture.
Why?
This is the easiest way to show the Community your personal style. You can either select from our library of icons, or upload one from the web or your desktop.
How?
Make sure you're logged in and go to "My Profile" > "Icons". Check out the how-to for more details.
Create a signature.
Why?
Let people know who you are, what you're thinking, what technology you're currently enjoying. You can update often, or keep it the same forever.
Some suggestions on what to include (pick and choose what you want to share):
- your real name
- your username
- your gamercard
- the technology you're currently using (type of phone, tv, camera, etc)
- your area of technology interest/expertise
- your favourite quote
How?
Make sure you're logged in and go to "My Profile" > scroll down to "Personal Profile" and fill in the "Signature" box. If you are planning to include a banner (like a gamercard), you will need to use HTML. Check out the how-to for more details.
Fill out your About Me section.
Why?
Because we are interested. You don't have to get too personal (leave your home address out) but tell us about your background, what your hobbies are, what your favourite hockey team is, etc.
How?
Make sure you're logged in and go to "My Profile" > scroll down to "Personal Profile" and fill in the "Personal Biography" box. HTML is not permitted - just text!
Any other suggestions on how to personalize our profiles?
